Sea and Beaches
Thasos has more than 30 beaches. Sand or gravel, deep or shallow water, crowded or isolated, each with its own unique beauty. Some of the best are located only a few km away from Villa Oliva. If you enjoy swimming, sailing, water sports or just like to relax by the sea, Thasos is an ideal destination for you.
Scuba diving/ snorkeling
Thasos is famous for its crystal clear waters and extremely diverse marine life. The waters around the island are teeming with fish of every size and color, and scuba diving or snorkeling is the perfect way to explore this beautiful underwater world.
Fishing
Thasos is one of the most renowned fishing habitats in Greece. Especially the southern part of the island that spans from Astris to Potamia, is ideal for shore fishing and boat fishing. Dentex, groupers, bonitos, garfish, amberjacks and many more species can be found from spring to autumn.
Biking/Hiking
You can rent a bike to explore the island at your own pace. Biking is a low-key and relaxing way to explore Thasos. The Island also hosts some great hikes. You can go through the olive tree fields around Villa Oliva, visit Giola or explore the mountain paths.
Stargazing
Best stargazing can be achieved when the night is dark and dry, the sky is clear and there is no haze. Thasos provides a pollution free environment where you can look at the stars during the night for the peace and comfort of mind.
Sights and Landmarks
You can visit Archangel Michael’s Monastery and enjoy the astonishing view from the cliffs, the archaeological site of Aliki, the archaeological Museum and the ancient Theatre. You can enjoy your night walk in Potos or Limenaria, which are the most crowded villages of Southern Thasos where you may find everything. You can also visit “Palataki” (small palace) or the traditional settlement of Castle or even take a full tour on the circular main road of the island to discover other scenic places.
